I thought of one.

Taco Stop, near Laguna Hills Mall at Carlota and El Toro in that little pie-shaped shopping center hard by the freeway.

But I have not tested its 24-hourness... been there only a couple times during regular-business type hours.

Noted!

I've read about Harbor House in Dana Point (and Sunset Beach as well, I see on their site)... but not been.

Wonder if it'd be worth driving from wherever you are in the county to one of their locations?

I love Harbor House. We go there every couple of months for breakfast or lunch. It's another great late night destination, beats Denny's or Norm's any time and any day.

Sounds yum. I think that crabmeat sandwich in your blog review, Dan, would be a fantastic middle of the night meal. However BLT w/avocado may be my all-time favorite sandwich, so it was good to read they do that well too.

The onions rings look good -- I love onion rings. Reminded me to start a dedicated onion ring topic!

The obvious ones for me is BCD Tofu House in Garden Grove (Garden Grove Blvd) and Lee's Sandwiches in Westminster (Brookhurst). Lee's Sandwiches in the UCI Marketplace, also 24hrs, used to be really good in the morning, but I haven't had a morning banh mi in a long while.

How could I forget Lee's 24-hour locations? Quite easily, apparently. A fine resource.

Joan -- BCD Tofu House... what to get after house or in the wee smalls?

Is BCD Tofu House still 24 hours? So weird, considering it's in Garden Grove, but I guess that's where the party crowd hangs out after hours. My brother used to go there after hanging with his homies, late at night.

Other than Lee's and BCD, I dunno. I go to sleep at 10pm, like the rest of Irvine.

Joan, I go to sleep sometimes BEFORE 10, so see it's not just Irvine.

Very glad you reminded me of this topic howevah: There is a new 24-hour resource.

Corky's in Ladera Ranch at Crown Valley and Antonio over by the faux retro Arco station, is available.

On their website they say they make everything from scratch, which, having eaten there, is a little hard to believe, but perhaps some or most is.

Not to damn with faint praise or nothin', but I think it's a tremendous step up from Denny's, say, and certainly something of an island in its area.

Good frites, VERY good onion straws. Huge, far too huge, servings, so order accordingly, I would advise.

The main thing: 24 HOURS.

OK this is a an anomaly, a VERY GOOD 24-hour joint: Albatros in Lake Forest near the corner of Lake Forest and Rockfield, across the little side street from The Hat.

Kind of convenient from a lot of points in the county, and if you consider it's not far off the 5 even more so.

As written up in its own topic linked above, good, clean, nice service, cheeeep. AND, 24 hours. Any questions?

I'll put in another good word for Corky's---though i have only had their chorizo burritos at various times, they are darn good.

PS Harbor house is awesome!

It's amazing that in one post, I wrote that BCD is 24 hours and then in the next post, I completely space out and asked you if it was still 24 hours.

I am going to the doctor's to get an Alzheimer's screening. Seriously!

Does Seal Beach count? Shore House Cafe is supposedly 24 hours.

Also, El Gallo Giro is suposedly 24 hours, but I haven't tested this.

There's also a BCD Tofu restaurant in Diamond Jamboree now.
